In eukaryotic cells,the nuclear envelope（NE）separates the nucleoplasm from the cytoplasm,which is important for maintaining the integrity of genetic material and the complex regulation of gene expression and function.The NEconsists of two lipid bilayers,the inner and the outer nuclear membrane,which are connected at nuclear pores.The molecular chain connecting cytoskelet on and nucleus,called"LINC"complexes function in multiple biological processes.The core components of LINC complex SUN2 and KASH form a molecular bridge across NE.We determined the homotrimeric structure of human SUN2 and the crystal structure of the SUN2-KASH complex.
